Bristol Airline Fares ComparedBristol Airport Airlines Compared

The largest number of direct flights to Europe from Bristol is with EasyJet. They now have 42 summer destinations with a dozen less routes during the winter months, Geneva being especially popular alpine destination for the airline. Ryanair now flies to 18 European airports, they are particularly strong with services to Eastern Europe. The summer hotspots are well covered by the main package and charter operators, we compare flights on these routes from TUI as well as all the traditional low cost airlines.Aircraft at busy Bristol Airport

Route News

The outstanding success of Bristol has been to attract low cost carriers to fly from the region, the two major airlines Ryanair and easyJet have recently expanded their summer 2013 routes to over sixty destinations. Traditional full service airline KLM have just announced increased capacity on their flights to Amsterdam. This allows their passengers access to greater range of long haul destination via their modern Schiphol hub airport, quick and easy flight transfers being a real speciality of this airport. Our advice is to check airfares on their routes via Amsterdam this is a good value alternative than flying from a London airport.

Advise on Travel to the AirportClick for a Google Location Map of Bristol Airport

The airport does not have a great location, it's of the A38, 9 miles to the south west of Bristol by road, Cardiff is 50 miles to the east and Exeter is 60 miles to the South West. If travelling from the North on the M5, the recommended route is to take exit 18 and follow directions along the A4 then the A38, it's 14 miles and takes half an hour if you are lucky. Our advice, if travelling in rush hour is to leave at junction 15 and follow the A369, this avoids the busy A4. If travelling from the South along the M5 leave at junction 22 and follow the A38 northwards until you reach the airport.
Public Transport
Sadly there is no train station at the airport but there is a fast and frequent bus service between the airport and Bristol Temple Meads station in the city center, it costs £7. FirstGroup operates the A1 Flyer Airport Express service, the 30 minute journey runs every 10 minutes during the day, see the Flyer Airport Express timetable for more details. There are also a wide range of coach services connecting the airport with towns and cities in southern Wales and South West England. There are non-stop services from Exeter, Plymouth and Bath with National Express and Greyhound UK have a direct 2 hourly service from Swansea and Cardiff the fare is £10 from Swansea.
Taxis from AirportThe taxi fare to the airport is about £27 for the half hour drive from the city center. Obviously check price in advance if possible, as they do vary at between different companies and at night time.

Our OpinionGo to Map and fares from all UK airports

There is nothing much wrong with this airport, it's not the best situated, it has limited public transport options and costs at the airport from trolleys to tea, they both cost £2, are a bit high, but overall it's fine. It's now one of the top 5 regional airports in the country for number of European flight destinations. This fantastic choice for travellers has led to a yearly growth in passengers numbers in spite of a UK wide recession. Anyone living in South Wales should consider flying from Cardiff Airport, check the cheaper parking on offer at the moment.
