Transfers from Caracas Airport (CCS), Venezuela
Caracas Simon Bolivar International is 16 miles north of town, on the coast near Maiquetía. Macuto, a pleasant tourist beach resort, is just north of the city along the Caribbean Coast.
Although beautifully located, be warned that Caracas is a violent city with many unsafe areas for foreign travellers especially at night, exercise caution at all times and travel in a group.
Taxi There is an offical yellow taxi & transportation desk in Arrivals hall. Use of the official taxi service run by Corporacion Anfitriones de Venezuela is advised, tourist fare to city should be about US$ 35. Cheaper private taxis may not be safe and mugging has been reported, avoid touts or sharing with anyone else.
Bus Regular buses run from both terminals but only depart when full, these stop close to the metro stations and Parque Central bus station in Caracas. From Caracas back to the airport board at Gato Negro Metro Station, as city centre traffic cause big holdups. The Caracas Metro underground is excellent and cheap, and serves most major city attractions, but is overcrowded at peak hours. Check for more information at the tourist board office at the International Terminal.
