Kochi has no direct flights from the UK, the shortest connecting flights are with Qatar Airways or Gulf Air flying from Heathrow, and Emirates leaving from Gatwick. The quickest of these routes take just 12 hours from Heathrow and 12½ hours with Emirates out of Gatwick. British Airways also flies from Heathrow to Kochi, these are via Bangalore and use Kingfisher Airlines for the flight down to Kerala's second city. The best fares from Northern England is from Manchester with Qatar Airways, they have convenient connections in Doha to most major Indian cities, including Kochi. Emirates is the best choice on price if you need to travel with more than the standard 23kg of luggage, their 30kg in economy is hard to beat. Current return airfares start from £382, the cheapest flights are all via airports in the Arabian Peninsula, our advice is to use this route choice for the short and convenient transfer times. Outside international terminal at CochinBusy Cochin International Airport lies close to major roads and the main railway line from Kanyakumari to Delhi. It is located 18 miles or half an hour's drive north of town, at Nedumbassery.
Kochi is the original name of the city, Cochin is the colonial name. It is Kerala's second largest city, situated on the west coast of India bordering the Arabian Sea. With a population of over 2 million people, it is a metropolis of great commercial and technological importance. Nearby Kochi port is one of the largest in India. The islands that make up Kochi are connected by ferry, bridges and roads connect Ernakulam with Willingdon Island and Fort Kochi/ Mattancherry.
Taxi Only hassle free fixed-rated CATS taxis are allowed to pick up passengers from the airport, get a coupon from the CATS desk in Arrivals before going to the taxi stand, pay the driver at the end.
Bus There are some bus services from the airport incl. to Trivandrum, but not much information is available. Buses stop at the halt outside the exit of the international terminal. Alternatively, take a taxi to the main Kochi - Salem Road 3 miles away and catch one of the many buses along this road.

Kochi and Ernakulam are connected to the rest of India by an extensive rail network, there are 2 major city railway stations: Ernakulam Junction (the main station) and Ernakulam Town.
