Transport & Transfer at Hong Kong Airport (HKG), China
Outside Hong Kong international terminal airportThe city's new Chek Lap Kok airport on the north side of Lantau Island was opened in 1998, replacing the old Kai Tak airport in Kowloon. It has 2 terminals a few minutes walk apart, most international flights arrive at Terminal 1. This airport is well served by excellent road and public transport connections.
Taxi Taxis are area colour-coded. Red urban taxis serve Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, green taxis serve only the New Territories, blue taxis serve all destinations in Lantau and the airport. Under normal traffic conditions it takes about 40 minutes to most major hotels in Kowloon, about 50 minutes via the Cross-Harbour Tunnel to all major hotels on Hong Kong Island.
Bus Citybus Cityflyer service provides comfortable access to major locations in Hong Kong and Kowloon. Airbus Public bus no. A21 runs to Kowloon, no. A11 for Hong Kong Island, but many other services are available. Hotel shuttle buses are a more expensive option.
Train The Airport Express railway line connects this airport via Kowloon station to Hong Kong station in Central, journey time is 23 minutes.
Ferry High speed ferries sail from the airport Skypier to locations in China. The regular and scenic 'Star Ferry' connects Hong Kong and Kowloon.
