Transfers & Travel around Riga Airport (RIX), Latvia
The small International Airport is about 9 miles west of the capital of the Republic of Latvia, conveniently located off the A10 motorway. The city lies on the banks of the Daugava River, just inland from the Gulf of Riga.
Taxis Situated outside Arrivals on level 1, average cost to city 5 - 8 LVL. The white Opels owned by Riga Taxi are the only reliable taxis, avoid the black Mercedes cabs.
Bus Bus 22 goes to the city centre (Strelnieku laukums) and the train station every 20 minutes, journey time 30 minutes; Bus 22A regularly connects the airport with hotels in centre of Riga. Airport bus stop is opposite terminal behind car park. Some hotels provide free shuttle vans (Radisson, Maritime). Comfortable buses run to major cities from Riga Bus Station (autoosta) at Pragas 1, near the central market. The bus station lies a few mins walk from the train station.
Train Nearest station is centrala stacija, a few minutes walk from the old city, with links to Vilnius, Gomel in Belarus, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Minsk. Riga also has 10 tram lines, 23 trolley bus routes and 39 bus routes.
