Singapore Airlines - A great way to fly

Singapore Airlines (SIA) is a very successful Asian airline and a world class carrier. Its home base is at Singapore Changi International Airport, a busy Asian flight hub situated 13 miles northeast of central Singpore city. Their familiar 'Singapore Girl' icon promotes SIA's hospitable reputation. The airline was established in the early 1970's after a division from Malayan Airlines, now Malaysia Airlines. At first, SIA mostly operated flights around Asia, and also flew Concorde between Singapore and London during the late 70's in partnership with British Airways. Rapid expansion saw flights commence to cities in the US, Canada and Europe. In the 1990s, more destinations were added to South Africa. The Singapore Airlines' world flights network includes flights with subsidiaries Singapore Airlines Cargo and SilkAir. It covers over 90 destinations to around 40 countries, including the world's longest nonstop route. Tradewinds, another subsidiary, offers tours and holiday packages to many destinations around the world. Singapore Airlines Ltd also owns nearly half of Virgin Atlantic Airways and Tiger Airways, a recently launched low cost carrier flying to short haul locations in Asia.

Singapore Airlines Routes and Destinations

Singapore Airlines flies between 5 continents and currently offers direct passengers flights to just over 60 destinations around Asia, Europe, Canada, North America, Australia and New Zealand. Non-direct flight options with stopovers are also possible, extending the route network even further. Online bookings can be made via their website www.singaporeair.com. SIA's subsidiary Silkair operates smaller capacity flights to secondary cities in Southeast Asia, China, and India. Within Asia, passengers can connect to 26 destinations served by SilkAir.
