Aer Arann - A low cost alternative to Ireland
Aer Arann (often spelt Air Arann) is a regional Irish low cost airline based in Dublin. It flies on a number of Irish domestic routes and offers regular good value flights from Ireland to airports all over the UK. Advantages of this airline are allocated seating, free baggage allowance, a freephone number and more flexibility. Annual passenger numbers lie around 1 million.

Air Arann Routes and Destinations
Air Arann offer a good choice of domestic routes in Ireland, as well as regular budget flights from Ireland to 12 UK airports, including Jersey (from Cork) and the Isle of Man (from Dublin). Most flights to the UK depart from Cork and Galway, with more flights also departing from Waterford, Donegal, Sligo and Kerry. Latest routes include flights from Waterford to Birmingham, Sligo to Manchester, Galway to Newcastle and Bristol. Dublin is their main domestic hub.
In addition, there are also 6 international routes from Ireland and the UK to Brittany (Lorient, Nantes), Northern France.

| Booking |
Ticketless flights can be booked online (the cheapest option) or via an agent, when a ticket will be issued. Infants under 2 travel on a parent's lap for £7 each way. Disabled passengers will receive free special assistance if requested in advance at time of booking, contact Aer Arann Reservations queries on 0870 876 7676.
Credit card handling fee is currently £4, debit card payments cost £1. If flying from Knock airport, a fee of EUR10 must be paid on departure.

| Check in |
The recommended airport check-in time is 1 hour before departure, generally check-in desks close 30 minutes before scheduled departure. Online check-in is possible for flights from Cardiff to/from Cork and Dublin, but Air Arran soon intends to make this facility available for other airports. |
| Seats |
Seats are all pre-assigned at check-in. Aim for a seat at the back of the cabin if you are bothered by noise or vibration from the turboprop aircraft. |
| Baggage |
There is a free checked-in baggage allowance of 20kgs per person on all flights. Hand luggage allowance is 7 kg, maximum dimensions 20x 28x43cm. No baggage allowance for infants under 2 (except buggy). The maximum total weight per item is 32kgs.
Per single flight, excess baggage costs £4.50/kg, bicycles and sports equipment £20, pets £18. Sport equipment must be booked in advance.

| Flight Changes |
Air Arran allows more ticket flexibility than many other low cost airlines. Flights can be changed for a fee up to 30 minutes before check-in closure, by contacting Aer Arann Reservations or online. Name changes cost £28, route changes cost £18 plus any price increase. A missed flight can be rebooked within 21 hours of the original flight for a fee of £35.

Food is not included in the flight. Most flights are short and drinks can be purchased on board.

The Aer Arann fleet consists of 14 small but very reliable ATR turboprop aircraft: 5 ATR42 (50 seats) and 9 ATR72 (66 seats). |

May 2007 Aer Arann announces expansion from Waterford airport, with a new route to Birmingham and more flights to London Luton and Manchester starting in summer 2007.
